Apostille Questions
Can you notarize my document and facilitate the apostille in the same appointment?
Yes. If a document requires California notarization before apostille submission, Dina Mahshi-McWashington can perform the required mobile notarization and coordinate the next steps for Apostille Facilitation. This can streamline the process by combining the notarial appointment and document handoff when appropriate.
How do I get an apostille for a California birth, death or marriage certificate?
California vital records generally need to be properly certified and bear the signature of an official whose signature can be authenticated. Some birth or death certificates signed by a local Health Officer or County Registrar may require additional county-clerk certification or a certified copy from the county recorder or California Department of Public Health. Eagle Eye Mobile Notary can review the document information as part of Apostille Facilitation and coordinate the appropriate submission process.
Do I need to travel to the Secretary of State office in Sacramento myself?
No. California allows another person to submit an Apostille request on your behalf. Eagle Eye Mobile Notary can provide document pickup, submission and retrieval through the appropriate Apostille service, then coordinate return of the documents according to the agreed delivery instructions.
What information do I need to provide for an apostille request?
Have the document available and provide the document type, where it was issued, the country where it will be used, and any instructions provided by the receiving organization. Also indicate whether Apostille Facilitation or courier-only service is needed.
Does the destination country matter for a California Apostille?
Yes. The destination country is required as part of the Apostille request and may have its own requirements for accepting or using the document. However, the California Secretary of State currently issues a single Apostille for California documents intended for use outside the United States, regardless of the destination country. Requirements beyond the California Apostille should be confirmed with the receiving authority.
What areas do you cover for document pickup and return?
Mobile document pickup, on-site notarization when required, and return delivery are available throughout Woodland, Davis, West Sacramento and Natomas, with service to surrounding communities in Yolo and Sacramento counties based on availability.
What is an Apostille?
An apostille is a certificate used to authenticate the signature and capacity of a public official on a document intended for use abroad. For eligible California documents, apostilles are issued by the California Secretary of State. An apostille does not certify or validate the contents of the document.
Does my document need to be notarized before it can receive an Apostille?
It depends on the document. Some documents are submitted based on the signature of the public official who issued or certified them, while other documents may require notarization before submission. If notarization is required, Eagle Eye Mobile Notary can provide the notarial service before coordinating Apostille Facilitation.
Can you help with diplomas, transcripts and other school documents?
Yes. Apostille Facilitation is available for eligible educational documents intended for use outside the United States. Requirements can vary depending on the document and receiving organization, so provide the document type, issuing institution and destination country when requesting service.
How long does the Apostille process take?
Processing time depends on the submission method, government processing times and the specific request. Eagle Eye Mobile Notary can provide current timing information when the service is arranged, but government processing or final acceptance cannot be guaranteed.
